What is a Community Larder?
The magic of Alvechurch is that there are people who really care
This is a team effort and comprises of wonderful volunteers that are the backbone and they work tirelessly to make the Community Larder a success.
Where does the food come from?
We receive damaged packages, excess stock and near sell-buy date items, all of which are destined for landfill. These items are collected directly from supermarkets and manufacturers.
We also receive food donations from the local community so there is a constant changing variety on offer to suit all needs.
The best help and support comes from inside our own community
We are not in competition with food banks, just something different.
There is no requirement for a referral, all are welcome!

There is more to the Larder than meets the eye. We have a receptionist who will greet people and also a personal shopper to help choose the goods on offer. There is someone specifically to talk to clients, should they wish.
A chat over a cup of tea and some social contact may be what someone needs to brighten their day or week.
